This six-year-old equine athlete is a model example of a versatile sport horse that ticks all the right boxes. His elasticity is impressive, his intelligence and mental agility are exceptional and his rideability is off the charts. And that’s not all. First Option is also a smooth mover with a beautifully elegant, compact build and a captivating presence. His remarkable technique and powerful take-off, combined with an incredibly positive attitude and the ability to jump the highest of obstacles, make this sport horse a very promising prospect. Perfect jumping technique, impressive reflexes and the lightest of mouths are all clear indicators that this six-year-old youngster is ready to compete against the clock. First Option’s quality is a reflection of his pedigree. His sire, Glenfiddich VDL, is a direct descendant of internationally successful Bacardi VDL, a competition stallion ridden by Janika Sprunger with many grand prix and World Cup class placings and the blood of top sires Corrado I, Nimmerdor and Jalisco B coursing through his veins. Glenfiddich VDL’s dam has one of the best French bloodlines thanks to Olympic stallion Papillon Rouge. First Option’s dam line is also very interesting. His dam Soul Sister competed in advanced level classes and also produced Be Gentle, a top 5-star show jumper ridden by Lillie Keenan, Cian O’Connor and Viven Blandfort. She is also the second dam in the pedigree of Just Be Gentle, a 1.60m winner ridden by Philipp Weishaupt and Christian Kukuk. The damsire Gentleman was a top string horse of Yves Houtackers and Rob Ehrens with impressive track records in both competition and breeding. Another top horse in the pedigree is Calvados (Uriel x Ibrahim x Hornet), a successful show jumper uniting many top Holstein performance horse genes.

First Option was included in the auction collection very early on for his remarkable competition performances and consistent results. His collection of international rosettes includes top seven placings in international youngster tours and CSI2*classes at five out of six competition outings.
