5. SUNSHINE
Pedigree
Sunshine – pure life-force.
An exemplary attitude and perfect manners are probably this athletic mare’s most notable features. There aren’t many horses out there with her mentality and positive fighting spirit. Not only is this unique horse a light-footed, easy ride with incredible scope, she’s also careful over jumps, has an excellent leg action and fast reflexes. She’s athletic, diligent and dynamic: keen and careful, yet well-balanced in temperament. Jump height is of no consequence to this confident and smart lady, who never loses focus from the first to the last fence. Sunshine is a five year old horse for all requirements and all riders.
She’s a very well-schooled, competition-ready mare with plenty of experience in classes for her age group, and now she’s ready for bigger things.
Sunshine’s pedigree is pure sport horse. Her sire, Arezzo VDL, made a name for himself competing at international CSI5* competitions with Jessica Kürten and Jur Vrieling, accumulating multiple international Grand Prix wins. For a breeding stallion he has an excellent competition track record. Arezzo VDL always impressed people with his ‘amazing scope, almost perfect jumping technique, great character and rideability, and calm disposition’, and he has proven to pass these qualities on to his progeny. This stallion has a top-level performance pedigree with five generations of sires competing at international level and producing offspring that compete at international level, such as Olympic horse Chin Chin (Jaime Azcarraga). Arezzo VDL’s dam line is another performance guarantee. Two of its famous products are Dragonfly with Nicole Simpson and Nacorde, three-times Hamburg Derby winner with Andre Thieme. Arezzo VDL’s successful offspring include: Tokyo Olympics horse VDL Egar M (Marlon Zanotelli), Garezzo (Giovanni Consorti), Harwich VDL (James Billington) and Amalia (Daniel Coyle).
The dam sire, Contendro II, has proven his breeding credentials without a shred of doubt. Not only does he have a solid track record at top-level competitions, he also produces exceptional horses. The fact that one in three of his offspring in Germany are advanced level show jumpers delivers adequate proof of this. Contendro II’s lineage is pretty impressive. His sire, licensing champion Contender, was one of the most consistent breeding stallions in Germany with offspring that have earned more than 10.9 million euros in prize money. Bravo, Contendro II’s dam, also produced Contendro I and Cassiano, two more licensed stallions. Contendro II is also bred back to legendary Ramzes AA in five of his bloodlines. The Holstein dam line 104a is one of the strongest bloodlines in the world.
Sunshine puts a smile on everyone’s face.
