14. QUICK KISS

Quick Kiss is the perfect cover boy.

His competition career is already mapped out and, despite being only five years old, his track record is already impressive: 17 wins and high placings in 1.25m young horse classes can be found in the German Equestrian Federation’s competition register, many of them with fantastic scores in the high eights. After winning the qualifier class he went on to compete in this year’s German National Championships for Young Horses in Warendorf. Unfazed by the big ring atmosphere, he came home with two ribbons.

Under the saddle Quick Kiss answers every question, however challenging. What’s more, he has an impressive character and is an amazingly light ride. Some of the horse’s outstanding and consistent qualities are his excellent jumping ability, enormous scope and easy going nature. When we were making the video, Quick Kiss demonstrated outstanding technical skills over jumps of all heights, and even the wing-height fences don’t measure up to this stallion’s seemingly unlimited scope. His excellent leg technique and quick reflexes are two more top attributes that are going to help this horse grab the equestrian world’s attention. All phases of his jump, including his powerful take-off, as well as his unwavering concentration from the first to last fence, give us a strong indication of the high-flying career that awaits him.

Quick Kiss has a great performance horse lineage: Quickly de Kreisker x Quick Star x Pilot.

Quickly de Kreisker has carried his rider Abdelkebir Ouaddar to victory in five star classes and they jumped straight into the hearts of equestrian spot fans with their performance at the Olympic Games. He has demonstrated unwavering talent from one class to the next, and celebrated numerous highlights jumping some of the most challenging courses in the world.

Dam sire Quick Star was a very important horse in the careers of both Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and Nick Skelton. He had a phenomenal career at the highest level of the sport with both riders, giving the impression when jumping that he had ‘springs in his hooves’. The little Selle Francais stallion lives on in his many excellent offspring: Stella (Meredith Michaels Beerbaum), Quick Study (Lauren Hough), Orient Express (Patrice Delaveau) and Vleut (Edwina Tops-Alexander).

Westphalian stallion Pilot was the youngest horse in Germany to win one million euros in prize money and even as a young horse he took the equestrian world by storm. His son Bugatti Pedro helped Wolfgang Brinkmann (Herford) to win the team gold at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, and from that time on his fate was sealed. Every international show jumper who fancied their chances wanted a horse sired by Pilot. Today Pilot shares Polydor’s status as a legendary Westphalian sire that has made his mark on jumping horse breeding.
